Another win for
Olney last night 5-1 against Rothwell and Desborough. Jood, Katie
Kazza all got one and Ang got 2. First goal for Olney for Katie
which she couldn't quite believe. Helen played very well, she
looked confident and nearly kept a clean sheet. However, Saturday
21st we have a game at 10.20, would any of you that haven't taken
part so far or have only played the odd game like a run out?
If so let me
know, oh and we also need an umpire (Last night's was crap!).
We have decided
to play in Summer white, but always bring your black, just in case!
Thanks.

Looking ahead to
the warmer months I have entered a team in the 7 a side summer
league to be played at Wrenn on Tuesday evenings from May. Please
make a note in your diaries if you are interested.
Also looking
further ahead - to next season in fact - we will need a new goal
keeper. Keep your eyes and ears open for anyone who may be
interested!#
Thanks.

Hi all
Well done for
yesterday, you all played very well considering the long Xmas
break. It was a perfect first game to start the new year. Thanks
for organising it Cath. It was also great to see Lindsey looking so
well. Next week we are away to Daventry, 11.30 push back, this will
be a much tougher test. This friendly is very important, as our next
match is not until 2nd Feb, our first league game of the year
against Wellingborough 2's.
Well done again
and I will see you all at training on Wednesday.

Hi all!
Thanks to all of
you that came over to Bedford and played out a 2-2. A pleasant game
to end the year! Our 11 year old keeper Alex did very well, one to
keep an eye on for the future. Amy and our honouree Olney lady, Lem
both worked well on the front line today. I hope that you both
enjoyed the game. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you all
for a great first half to the season it's been a lot of fun! Take
care and have a great Xmas, I'm sure that I'll see some of you at
the various parties that are happening over the festive period.

Message from an
ex-coach
Hello Ladies,
I have been
reading your very good website and recognised quite a few names in
there!! Hope you are all well. It is a very long time with no
speak/see.
Well done on
being in the Premier League and good luck on Saturday just remember
Carrina’s advice and you won’t go wrong (still have the t-shirt and
your signed picture of me is still very much on view in the house as
it should be!) Speak to you all soon.
Love
Tim (Ex Coach
and fan of the ABBA themed D’Ippolito Parties, now married with
daughter Emma and soon to be father of a second)

Olney Ladies are
looking forward to the new season and a new challenge.
Many of use
competed in The Wrenn School summer league, where we managed to play
some good hockey and win the ‘Sporting Team Award’. I’m never sure
whether to take this award as a compliment or an insult as I
sometimes feel that this means that we are ‘too nice’ and not
competitive enough. Perhaps we can work on that this season.
One shining
light from the summer was Alice Testa (Di Graham, our Umpire Liason
Officer’s daughter), at 15 years old she’s keen to play some ladies
hockey, and did very well for us. She along with another couple of
youngsters, Vanessa and Amy, have played one or two friendlies for
us so far this season and conducted themselves very well, some good
prospects for the future.
We have had two
friendlies so far this season, a good 3-3 draw with Wellingborough
2nds and a 2-1 win against Bedford 3rds. Let’s continue the winning
habit.
We have
temporarily lost Ali and Tamsin on maternity and parenting leave,
however we welcome back Avril who managed to score on her ‘debut’
after about 90 seconds against Bedford last week!
My message to
our team for this season is to be more competitive from the start of
every match. We must win the close games that we were either
drawing or losing by 1 goal last season. We noticed in the summer
league that some of the other teams that we play Div 1 hockey
against have attracted some good new players so we are going to have
to raise our game. So let’s train hard, play hard, win and most
importantly enjoy ourselves.
